Title: For One More Day
Author: Mitch Albom
Genre: Fiction
The novel "For One More Day" follows the story of a former baseball player named Charles Benetto, also known as "Chick," who is facing numerous challenges. These include financial instability preventing him from providing a good life for his daughter Maria, strained relationships with his family, and battling severe depression, which he attempts to manage through alcohol. Eventually, Chick reaches a breaking point and decides to end his life in his hometown, where he grew up. When he is driving to his hometown, he misses his exit and turns around, driving the wrong way and eventually causing an accident. Then Charles flees to his old family home after his suicide attempt was an apparent failure. Charles goes to go and see his mother, Posey, although she died ten years ago.
Charles spends a day with his mother for the final time, and they reveal Charles's bad relationship with his father and all the other factors that caused his bad childhood. Posey and Charles catch up and see how each other is doing, and Charles shares with her all his problems with jobs, money, family, and his alcohol problem. Charles also shares the fact that he tried to kill himself, and like most mothers, Posey felt pity on him and tried to fix all his problems in life, eventually letting him go with one final message. "Never give up".
Charles wakes up at the scene of the crash in a police officer's arms, and everything finally hits him; he was dreaming all along he never went to go and meet his mother because, after all, she died ten years prior. The book describes how Charles's life changed from that experience and how he promised himself to turn his life around, to stop drinking, and to finally reconcile with his family, including his daughter, Maria, before his death five years later. Maria is later revealed to be the narrator of the story.

I liked the book even more because there were a lot of moral stories, such as family being everything and you should never give up on yourself. If you read the book and you liked it, you should read:
